Hello!!!
Everything is starting to heat up down here and we are dying
of heat right now hahaha. And it sounds
like next week ill be coming home to snow so tha'tll be pretty different! Butttt I'm still here and loving every minute
of it!!
We had a super wild and fast week. To start off
1- We had a ton of hermanas come stay in our house overnight
for the zone conference the next day and we basically spent all of Tuesday in
the bus terminal directing all of the missionaries that came to where they
needed to go.
2-Wednesday we had zone conference and leadership conference
all in one day. It was a lot of info but
I learned a lot!! Elder De Hoyos talked about how we should always ask for
referrals and find when we teach and teach when we find. His wife talked about Elder Bednars talk from
last conference and how all things need to come together in Christ. We have to do a lot of things all at the same
time--focusing on all of them all at once and that's how we will be effective
instruments in Gods hands. She also
talked about how we all need to know who we really are. Through revelation, find out what God thinks
of us and what our specific missions are on the earth. She said once we know that, nothing can harm
us. Even Satan will flee from us. I invite you guys to do the same!
We learn that through prayer, scripture study, patriarchal
blessings, and temple attendance
3-We spent like 2 full days doing service for a family in
our stake. Their house burned down and
we went with the missionaries to help clean it up and start re-building. That was super fun. I love serving!! The coolest part though was while we were
sifting through the ashes, and Elder called out "woah guys!! come
here!!!" We all ran over and he had just pulled out a Book of Mormon from
the ashes. Everything had been burned,
but the Book of Mormon was untouched.
Covered in ashes, yes. But
nothing had happened to the pages. It
was even still white. We all sat there
thinking hahah. One of the Elders was
saying there has to be some sort of physical reason why it didn't burn and he
said just like in Helaman 5 when it talks about how if we are built on the
foundation of Christ we cannot fall, its the same with all things. If we are centered on Christ, nothing can
harm us. Wind, rain, earthquakes, and
even fires. That was pretty cool!! And
as we started cleaning more we also found other pictures of Christ that somehow
escaped the fire as well. I know as we
Center our lives on Christ there is real and tangible power!!!
4-We have contacted so many people this week. As I've talked with lots of people in such a
short period of time, I'm reminded of how much people need this message. Life is hard, and without the peace,
strength, hope, and happiness that come from Jesus Christ, its almost impossible. I'm so grateful I get to be a missionary and
help people discover how to be truly happy and escape the storms of life!
